Following the announcement that John Galliano would be stepping away from the 2027 Met Gala, the Costume Institute has officially revealed the theme of its Spring 2027 exhibition: “extraORDINARY: Fashion & the Poetics of the Everyday.”
Exploring how designers reimagine “familiar garments, materials, and objects”, the exhibition invites visitors to look beyond the ordinary and discover the extraordinary in everyday dressing. From jeans and T-shirts to puffer coats, the exhibition will also set the tone for the 2027 Met Gala dress code, celebrating the beauty, creativity and unexpected possibilities of the everyday.
