PAUSE Picks: Top 5 Men’s Stores In NYC

By October 1, 2013Culture, Fashion News

With New York Fashion Week SS14 now well and truly behind us you’d be forgiven a pang of heartache as the nights draw in and the winter settles down for the season. Our next big fashion fix will have to wait until the summer, however, until then we have a smorgasbord of new styles just begging for a little exposure.

For those of you who just can’t resist the pull of that infamous NYC style, why not take a trip across the Atlantic and fill your boots (or suitcase) with the latest pieces from that city that never sleeps.

For those who are new in town, why not take a look at our 5 favourite ephemeral emporiums to get you off to a good start.

Alter:

Contemporary, independent and affordable are not often words you’ll hear in the same sentence. However, Alter is the perfect combination of all three and the seasoned shopper will be treated to designs from the likes of Jeffrey Campbell, Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen and Kai-Aakmann among many others.

Atelier New York:

Exclusivity is the keyword here and Atelier has it in spades. Championing a minimalistic style that brings fashionistas from around the world through its doors means that the New York store is always at the cutting edge.

If:

Avant-garde and esoteric styles rule the roost at If – meaning this individualistic store is perfect for the man looking for a little experimentation. Boasting collections from around the world and with displays from Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Takahiro Miyashita and The Soloist, this is not one for the follower of fashions, more the leader.

Odin:

Odin combines high fashion and ambitious new designers alongside a fragrant selection of eau de toilettes that leaves the well-dressed man smelling equally good.  Rag & Bone, Band of Outsiders, and Engineered Garments all call this their home and the range of slim fitted trousers and plaid work shirts is second to none.

Project No. 8b:

Project No. 8b mixes eclecticism and luxury in a store overflowing with independent designers. Isaac Reina leather goods, Sammuel Gassmann cuff links, and footwear from Maison Martin Margiela all make a showing meaning this store is a must for the fashion conscious.

Of course, no self-respecting fashionista or buyer would be seen out on the streets of New York without a little help. Why not elevate yourself to the status of fashion guru and make the rounds in decadent style with a chauffeur driven limousine. For those stepping straight off the plane why not enjoy a Blacklane luxury airport transfer and ensure you arrived relaxed and rejuvenated from your long flight. It will leave you with all the more energy for constant trips to show and fitting rooms.
