Katie Eary is a name that is currently setting the fashion world abuzz with her creations. Having already collaborated with self-proclaimed fashion guru Kanye West, her tenth showing at London Collections was eagerly anticipated. With David Gandy, Tinie Tempah and Reggie Yates all in attendance, the basement of Victoria House in Bloomsbury became a fashion hotspot as bloggers, fashion photographers, and general posers tried to capture the event.
After seeing several collections in rather dull colours such as grey and monochrome, it was starting to feel like SS14 would be about dressing to match the typical English weather. However, Katie Eary has single-handedly saved us from a drab summer of matching our clothes with the grey skies. Her SS14 collection will inject fire and a touch of the exotic into your wardrobe. Eary’s SS14 palette focuses on bright oranges, deep reds, and attractive pinks.
Last year, animal prints were big news and were done with such vigour that the trend suddenly died a quick death. Katie Eary has used leopard and, quite interestingly, flamingo prints to create a collection that is very bright and attention seeking, but also wearable and intriguing. Block coloured t-shirts in orange were worn with leopard print shirts underneath. Flamingo t-shirts and trousers were paired together in a matchy, matchy look that somehow wasn’t an eyesore.
The collection was met with raptous applause. Katie Eary will no doubt continue her ascent in the industry. Her collection even persuaded the sun to come out.
