Thom Browne’s SS15 show at Paris Fashion Week was a suit collection like no other. The designer took Paris as an opportunity to experiment with garments and create a collection of striking designs, both in form and design.
Thom Browne is renown for their ‘typical’ suit collection already, so PFW allows Browne to experiment and go beyond the norm. The designer created some very interesting suit shapes, with shoulders being padded and pointed. The ‘safe’ grey suit option was by no means safe in this SS15 collection. Grey padded suits that resembled muscle tissue were highly eye-catching.
The whole collection had an air of futurism around it and definitely threw away the rulebook when it comes to suits and tailoring. One example of the rules being broken was that all of the suits were paired up with clear plastic masks. To reiterate, the designs were experimental, a display of art so to speak.
However, if you’re looking for any signs of it being SS15, butterfly and floral details were scattered amongst the collection.
