Black Friday has arrived and no one wants to waste this opportunity. But how could we make it possible? Is it just a dream to actually find the best offers when you are overwhelmed by brand blurbs? Here’s the How To Do List you should follow to not lost yourself in the big deep ocean of unmissable discounts!

 1. Do your homework!

Don’t go without any background research on your pocket! Do you really want to waste your whole October wage on stuff you will never wear? Do your research. It is better to plan on making a special purchase of a big-ticket item, isn’t it? So, check consumer reports, read reviews and don’t just make the purchase if you are not convinced about it! You could find something that suit you better next month, even if it will be at full-price!

2. Google it!

Thanks to BlackFriday.com, you can get a good idea of what deals will be where well before Black Friday shopping starts. Knowing which retailers are going to have what on sale and when before the big day will help you decide where and when you want to go, also, it will help with budgeting and see who you have left to shop for. Make a list with the product, who it is for, the price, the location, and make sure to not waste neither a second of your shopping. Otherwise, you will have to wait another year!

3. Is it something you will buy even at full-price?

Compare prices before you head out. Choose the store that is offering the best deal. Check what usually comes with the item you are looking for, so as to determine if the deal is really worth it or not. But, most of all, is it something you really want? Do you need the 500th plain black bag? Shop wisely, it may be something you can’t return.

4. Are you a chirping early bird or a hooting night owl?

Many stores advertise early bird deals, generally between 4 and 11am. But also offer night owl specials between midnight and 4am to draw in the crowd that doesn’t like to get up early. Cashing in on these deals is not only a good way to beat the crowd, but it’s a very good way to guarantee the getting will be good, because typically, once the deals are gone, they are gone. Forever. And you don’t want to regret that.

5. Three is the lucky number!

Save the most with “Triple Plays”. Combine the primary ways to save: buy items at a good sale price, use percent-off/bonus points coupons offered by some stores to lower that price even more, and look for items that also have a cash back rebate.

 6. It is exactly like a game!

What do you usually do to gain the best result on your favourite game? Create a Game Plan! Black Friday is a hardcore shopping experience, and if you don’t make a plan, you could get lost in the shuffle. Retailers are famous for advertising teaser deals, also known as Black Friday doorbusters, to get you in the door and then making a bundle off other items in their inventory. Stay focused. You can find ad scans and deal roundups on sites such as BFads.net and BlackFriday.com. Start prioritizing your purchases, what are you waiting for?

 7. Your smartphone is your best friend!

By downloading the right shopping apps, you can check prices and track down friends when you get separated.
ShopSavvy: all you do is scan the barcode on any item and instantly compare the price to prices offered online and at nearby stores.
Black Friday App: it allows you to fit all the ads, sale hours and store information in your pocket.
Nifti: If you are wondering if those shoes really are a good deal, Nifti tracks prices based on historical sales data. It will tell you if it is better to wait for a deeper discount later in the season.

 8. What are doing all by yourself?

Bring a friend! It will makes shopping more fun and, obviously, teamwork can help you score the biggest deals. Together you can cover more ground and hit up different areas in less time! Furthermore, do you really think you can manage to bring all those big bags at home alone?

Carrie Bradshaw falling in Dior

9. Don’t faint in the middle of Selfridges!

Stop for a quick healthy breakfast, eat something with complex carbs for energy and protein for staying power – sliced fruit topped with two tablespoons of peanut butter works well.

10. Be loyal!

Stores often have a loyalty programs that offers sales and promotions to their members first, and then let them earn rewards on what they buy. Sign up for Black Friday shopping alerts about coming promotions.

 11. Keep your cool!

It’s easy to become irritable on Black Friday. Just remember why you are there: make the holidays special for your family and friends (and yourself, of course!). Don’t freak out, take a deep breath, smile and if you have an encounter with a stressed out and rude salesperson just concentrate on have the most enjoyable experience!

12. Dress appropriately!

It’s freezing out there and transitioning between a cold parking lot and a packed store can result in overheating, so dress in easily removable layers. Wear thick sweaters topped with a coat you can sling over your arm once you’re in the store. Hats and gloves are a must! Unless you are planning to buy new ones on that day. Drink coffee and always carry with you your Thermos.

13. Stay at Home (?)

Oftentimes, you can find even better prices online than you can by visiting retail locations, and it eliminates all the hassle. If you don’t like crowds, do your Black Friday shopping online from the comfort of your own home.

Many people are already purchasing the best running shoes to get that beautiful jacket with 70% discount and steal it from you. Are you ready to run?

This Is Not Clothing’s Collection III/II lookbook.

This-Is-Not-Clothing_iii-ii-fy1

As always, the latest collection from This Is Not Clothing takes inspiration from past and present cultural happenings; this time from classical sculpture and modern protest. The artwork is inspired by the Parthenon Marbles from Athens, Greece – depicting a battle between the Lapiths and the Centaurs.

As with all areas of fashion these days, This Is Not Clothing has integrated an augmented reality which can be brought to life with their app by scanning their labels.

The collection is now available online at www.thisisnotclothing.com and in Selfridges, Trading Museum, Comme des Garçons & Galeries Lafayette Beijing.

The ongoing fashion venture between Mr. West and Adidas continues on in an all black addition of the Boost 750.

IMG_0596.JPG

Under no official name- as of yet – the latest edition of the 750 series is expected to be declared as the “Blackout” and obvious suggestion but equally as fitting. The shoes were first sighted on the Instagram page “YeezyTalk WorldWide” (YTWW), which has already claimed favour from a hive of fans preparing to cop the sneaker on December 5th. As always, getting this sneaker is no easy task, coming in limited numbers on a strict one-pair per person basis at selected retailers, meaning we could be seeing the most difficultly attainable Yeezy release to date. Unless you’re ready to pay the near-extortionate resell prices, I suggest you keep your eyes peeled and sneaker connects real close as getting these Yeezy’s won’t be easy. In the meantime, check out the adidas store for Yeezy’s latest apparel collection.

Listen closely and open your ears as we introduce you to London’s rising rapper, Yungen. Climbing up in the UK music scene, Yungen as a kid was too shy to face the camera growing up. Since 2010 Yungen has been able to share his life experiences from track to track, dropping hard lyrics on YouTube and to being nominated as Best Newcomer on last year’s MOBO Awards. Today, Yungen has now signed to Sony RCA and released his latest single Take My Number featuring Angel. We at PAUSE got a chance to talk with Yungen about his career growing up, favourite sportswear brands and what it means to be Forever Young.

What does the name Yungen mean to you and how did you come up with the nickname?

It was something that came from my friends when I was young; nearly all of my friends were older than me. They use to make jokes, “Oh Yungen” and I was like “Stop calling me that.” When I started rapping and I was in studio, people would be like “Oh what’s your name?” and my friends would be like “Oh, Yungen!” and I would still be like “Stop calling me that, that’s not my name.” Now when I look back it means a lot because it was my childhood, so it makes me think a lot about growing up.

Lets take it back to the ‘2k8’ [2008] days, tells us about some of the challenges you faced growing up in South London?

It was weird because 2008 I lost one of my best friends and it was mad because I was 16 years old. We was literally young, running around just having fun, doing what you do as a 16 year old from a council estate. I lost one of my best friends that summer, the last day of summer. That changed my whole direction of life and where I wanted to go, it made me want to take things seriously. Even down to things like we always use to have motor peds, but illegally. I never got my motor ped again. That’s the best thing that’s happened to me and the worst thing as well.

“South London has made me who I am today”

How has South London made you who you are today?

I think it’s basically me… I was saying it the other day, even to what I eat. Morleys is what I eat. I would die for Morleys, that’s me! South London has made me who I am today.

Since the beginning of your rapping journey, what has been some of your favourite tracks to date?

My first song that I ever done was Home Town, that’s the first song I ever did about my estate and even my friend that died, that song means the most to me. Ain’t On Nothing is probably my biggest song, that’s taken me somewhere else. Even made people look at me that wasn’t interested before. That’s another song that means a lot to me and also Too Real.

So did you start rapping from 2008 when your friend died? When did you decide to take your music seriously?

Nah, I was rapping and messing about before that. But I would never rap to anyone. Back then I wasn’t serious, I was writing a lot more because I had a lot to write about. 2010 is when I took it seriously.

Why?

That’s when I shot my first music video and stuff. My friends were really onto me, they would say “Stop rapping to us man, go and rap on YouTube! We’re sick of hearing you, you’re sick.” I was like “Nah man,” I was shy. Even through my whole school life, I didn’t take any pictures. I haven’t got one picture in my school uniform. Not one picture, not even a school photo.

Really? Why?

I just didn’t like cameras, I use to hate cameras. But I look back now and regret it because I have no memories of school. But now I would shoot videos and stuff, 2010 is when I first had a camera in my face.

“Through my whole school life, I didn’t take any pictures. I haven’t got one picture in my school uniform… 2010 is when I first had a camera in my face.”

What made you turn to the other side? What gave you the confidence?

I think just me putting out that video and seeing how much love it got and I thought “wow man,” because for me, that was a big thing. It’s all good that my friends are telling me, but you never really believe it. I was like “Oh you’re my friends though; you’re going to tell me I’m good.”

I remember when my video got on Spiff TV and for me that was a big thing because I use to go and watch Spiff TV as a kid. Now, I don’t appreciate stuff like that but at the time that was a massive thing to me.

You’ve got a tune called ‘Comfy’ – What would be your day to day comfy wardrobe essentials?

A tracksuit.

If you had to pick one, would you pick a Nike or an Adidas tracksuit?

Nike tracksuit, I’m just a Nikey boy. I love Nike. But in the last few years, I feel like Adidas has brought back the old 90s tracksuits when we was kids. Everyone has started wearing them again but I’m just more of a Nike tracksuit guy.

What sport/street wear brands do you think is doing a lot for the youth right now?

Nike mainly but I like what PUMA has going on. PUMA is doing a lot now, I feel like they’ve proper [really] evolved by touching the youth right now.

“I don’t listen to rap, I just listen to RnB”

You just launched your single ‘Take My Number’ featuring Angel, what made you venture a bit more into RnB with this song?

Do you know what’s weird? And no one believes me when I say this. If you look at my playlist of what I listen to in my car, I don’t listen to rap, I just listen to RnB. I got four other sisters and I’m in the middle of all of them. We’d all listen to RnB growing up, that’s all I would hear in my house.

What kind of RnB tunes did you listen to growing up?

Old school RnB from Jagged Edge to Ginuwine, that’s how deep it was in RnB. I would class Drake as RnB, that’s the new RnB I’m into. I love RnB, That’s my feel and with Angel he’s got that, that’s our RnB guy here in the UK and I think he deserve a lot more credit than he gets. I say it all the time, if he was American, he would be massive.

What does it take for a guy to take a girls number in today’s age? What tips would you give the PAUSE readers?

[Huffs ]… Do you know what? I feel like it is too easy now, social network has ruined everything. I feel like social network has ruined that moment of walking down the road, seeing a beautiful girl and thinking wow. The nervousness of moving to a girl and if she rejects you, social media has ruined that. With Instagram, you just go in there and comment, “Hey… you look good… etc” and then you’re in! That’s how I feel now.

But with the good girls, I feel like you have to stay in the DM’s, for a while. You can’t go straight for the kill “Yo, can I get your number, you on WhatsApp?” because they will shut you down. The good girls, [laughs] there’s not many.

How do you come up with your Instagram captions?

A lot of listening to music… I would take a picture and it would make me think of a lyric and a song. Whether it is my own song, something I would hear or a feeling. I only put up a picture when I’m feeling something. That’s why I don’t just put up pictures without captions.

So I might take a picture now, but I’m not feeling something now. But I might be driving home and be listening to Drake’s new album then think of a lyric and think oh yeah.

You’ll be performing at Wireless this year, are you excited?

Yes! Very because I didn’t get booked last year, I hadn’t been booked before by having my own slot. It meant a lot this year. Last year I didn’t get it and I was a bit disappointment in myself, so I was like next year I’ve got to get Wireless!

What plans have you got coming up this summer?

I’ve got a project dropping hopefully. It’s finished but we’re seeing how Take My Number goes. I’ve got a lot of festivals coming up; Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury and loads of other festivals. So I’m looking forward to it, this is going to be my best summer ever.

“I’ve got a lot of festivals coming up; Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury…  this is going to be my best summer ever.”

What have you learnt about the music industry since you got signed?

Urm… not much has changed since I got signed to Sony RCA. But I’ve realised how serious things are and how much work gets put into making a record big. Because before, when you’re just a fan of music and you’re just watching it, you don’t understand what goes on behind the scenes. Where I am at now, doing my first single, I was like “Oh rah [wow], can’t we just tweet it?” But it’s not like that. I think being signed has come at a good time for me. I feel like I got to a point where I knew a lot of the underground. I know how to get a hundred thousand views or even get a million views. But to sell records I don’t know and that’s where the label comes in.

Who are the top 5 UK MC/Rappers at the moment?

I would say… Stormzy, Skepta, Krept & Konan, G FrSH. I’m going to say G FrSH because I feel like he’s very much underrated. Every time I listen to him I’m always like “Your one of the best,” so definitely G FrSH. I’d have to say Wretch 32 because Wretch 32 is my favourite of all time.

What does it mean to be ‘Forever Young’?

It means everything to me; because of the whole name Yungen people are like “What you going to do when you get old?” and I say “I’m Forever Young,” but forever is more than this. Even with all my friends from my estate, DJ’s… everyone. We’re going to do this for ever, even my manager. We had a friendship before this and we’re going to do this forever.

What advice would you give to your younger fans about making decisions for their future?

I feel like you’ve got to go with your heart, always. People always say take advice, but when advice is good. Always believe to go with your heart in every situation.

“Always believe to go with your heart in every situation”

As Black Friday hit the UK last year, you probably seen a series of  At PAUSE, we know that you won’t act in any uncivilized way. But still, you are pretty excited by the event: here are 10 signs that show that you’re Black Friday ready.

1 – Black Friday is looming and you couldn’t be more ready

2 – To you, the perspective of shopping all day on Friday sounds more appealing than ever (HAPPY)

3 – Actually, nothing scares you. Not even a crowd like this (WWZ)

4 – You already set a list of gifts to buy for Christmas (PREPARED)

5 – You already checked the opening hours of the store you want to purchase from (LIKE A BOSS)

6 – You also checked your bank account several times – to avoid nasty surprises at the cash desk

7 – You’ve been practicing your runnings skills

8 – You’ve been practicing your pushing skills

9 – You’ve been practicing scrambling skills

10 – You start to think nasty things

13 – Or the nastiest: “What if trim up one or two?

Parisian brand KENZO launches a limited-edition capsule collection to stay warm and stylish during the happiest and most cold holiday season. It features its signature eye, tiger and Eiffel Tower on sweat-shirts, jumpers, t-shirts and accessories.

Most of the graphics are inspired by the iconic Tiger, like the one on the Iphone case and the square scarf. However, other items in the line-up include classic espadrilles and accessories with metallic accents.

But, what is really impressing in this collection is that Kenzo figures out how to replace “clichéd holiday iconic sweaters” with the brand’s own design, conceiving a “not embarrassing” unisex jumper.

Will it may become a trend in every established fashion brand or it will just be thrown away together with all the ’15 Christmas decorations boxes in January?

Do you want to look voguish at that Christmas dinner? Shop the Merry K! collection now at Kenzo.com

On the other hand, the look of the Ranger Stormtrooper White recalls one of the robot’s armor with is angular geometry. In addition to it, the case back is etched with the famous quote “move along”. While the Ranger Imperial Pilot Black’s case back shows the Imperial Pilot message “crash and burn”. On both watches, the Imperial logo is displayed at 12 o’clock on the dial. The design of the hour and minute hands has been inspired by the Imperial Pilot and the Stormtrooper’s helmet ventilation system.

However, they are not at all gimmicky looking, so they can be worn in everyday situations and you don’t actually need to be a Star Wars lover to purchase them!

The annual, and obligatory, Christmas jumper guide has arrived.

jumper2
Love them or hate them, Christmas jumpers are an annual sartorial suicide moment, that happens whether you like it or not. But, if you’re looking for something that still looks palatable to the eye without you needing a few shots of eggnog beforehand, then look no further.

When it comes to looking for the perfect, and bearable, jumper; simple patterns, subtle details and old designs with contemporary twists are the way to go. Fear not, PAUSE has compiled a list of the less offensive choices! Consider this our gift to you…

Simple Patterns

The best thing abound patterned jumpers is that they still say Christmas, but don’t look too over the top and garish, so you won’t run the risk of looking like your Granddad. When you think patterns, think layering. Combine the look on top with a Peacoat, while below opt for a straight leg jean and desert boot.

Trapstar begin their invasion for the USA.

99iqoXRTFgMXFA0N7OIbtCLrqLTWBJHuC1mnwCcjCA8

From starting as a custom t-shirt’s brand for friends in London, Trapstar have spread their “Invasion for Peace” to the streets of New York, with their official launch event and fashion show being presented at the Openhouse Mulberry last Friday. Through effortlessly accumulating an army of followers in and around London, as well as on the world stage, with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and Future all notable supporters, Trapstar are now planning a US takeover, starting from next year.

Captivating the audience with a breath-taking opening act by ballerina Deija Ferguson, models soon marched on to steal the show as Dudley O’Shaughnessy opened. With bold, graphic design t-shirts and sweatshirts being the brand’s forte, impressive flight jackets, ripped denim and oversized jerseys also took centre stage, which attracted an array of high-profile attendees including Justine Skye, Luka Sabbat, Wiley Cartier, Angela Simmons and Rox Brown amongst others. These were additionally matched with Trapstar’s collaborative PUMA Disc sneaker. For those eagerly awaiting like myself, Trapstar will be sold in speciality boutiques across the US, with more details soon to be announced, in addition to their newly revamped online store on November 23rd.
