Celebrating Heritage.
What happens when a decade of dedicated digging through the adidas archives meets the vibrant energy of a new season? The answer arrives in the form of the adidas SPZL Spring Summer 2025 collection, Gary Aspden’s latest contribution to the ongoing dialogue between past and present within the three stripes lineage. This season sees the iconic Three Stripes delve deep into its cultural legacy, reimagining classic silhouettes for the modern era while hinting at future possibilities. The footwear lineup features six distinct styles, artfully blending recognizable elements with innovative hybrid designs. Highlights include the TRX Mesh SPZL, a subtle update to the classic TRX in its original bold blue and yellow, and the Handball Cup SPZL, which fuses mid-80s handball aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the 1983 Handball Spezial and the Handball Top.
Continuing this theme of respectful reinvention, the collection presents the Failsworth SPZL, inspired by the lesser-known adidas Barbados and featuring a vintage ‘Made in France’ tongue branding. The Roelee SPZL emerges as the successor to the Whalley SPZL, combining Gazelle SPZL foxing with a Whalley SPZL upper. The Pampanga SPZL revives the rare archival Made in Philippines adidas Squire, updating its upper while retaining the vintage outsole. Finally, the A. Aspden SPZL offers a fresh take on court shoes, blending the adidas Las Palmas tooling with 70s court shoe upper details, and poignantly featuring the signature of Gary Aspden’s late father as a tribute. The apparel and accessories further build upon the established SPZL design language, offering a cohesive and stylish collection rooted in adidas’ enduring heritage.
The Spezial collection will be available in limited quantities on the 27th of March through Confirmed and select retailers.
