Closer Look: Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Twist On “Vans” Silhouette

Worth 7k.

Pharrell just gave the internet its favourite kind of homework: spot the difference. Previewed via his @skateboard account ahead of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear show in Paris, the new Combi LV sneaker rolled out in blood-red crocodile leather — vulcanized sole, wrapped toe panel, striped foxing, the works. Familiar? That’s the point everyone made within the hour.

The internet went straight to Vans’ 1966 Authentic, and Vans clearly agreed. The brand slid into the comments with an “ohhhh bet,” then followed up with its own red Authentic post captioned “Wanna know the time. Better clock us” — a Clipse lyric Pharrell himself produced. Chef’s kiss shade.

We got inside industry confirmation that this is not a collaboration. No co-branding, no joint drop, just two brands trading bars in public while the rest of us screenshot.

LV isn’t alone in the skate sneaker cosplay era. Dior’s Saltwind, Bottega’s take, even Phoebe Philo’s $950 version have all leaned on the same silhouette this season. Vans built the culture; everyone else is just renting the shape.

Combi releases early 2027. Whether Vans lets this stay banter or takes it further — we’ll be watching.
