Landing somewhere near the top of our most convenient hotel visits, Hotel nHow Amsterdam RAI is everything you need upon arrival to the Netherlands’ capital city. Being located in the south of the city nearer the business district, Amsterdam RAI, ironically, isn’t all business, despite its efficient and clean-cut approach to hospitality. The fun-loving establishment looks to intertwine business hotel-core with contemporary art, positioning itself as a colourful destination spot that mixes together unique architecture and design and one-of-one gastronomical experiences with a sense of comfort, being a home base after those long days out on the winding streets of ‘Dam.

Take a closer look at what we made of Hotel nHow Amsterdam RAI below.

Towering over the Zuidas district, the 91m tall hotel building is just around the corner from the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, whilst the Amsterdam RAI and Europaplein train stations are a few minutes walk away, meaning travelling around the city is as simple as you could possibly ask it to be. Schipol Airport is only a ten minute train ride, so you’ll be straight into the thick of things once you touch down. Despite being outside of the hustle and bustle zone of Amsterdam, and those famous cobbled streets, the hotel’s location was a nice change of pace, but don’t expect any canal views around here.

Bringing the outside in, Amsterdam RAI looks to its exact location for inspiration. Six individual room designs are inspired by the six directions the building’s corners face, more specifically north, east, south, south-west, south-east, and north-west. Taking design cues from cultures and locations around the world, the eclectic mix of rooms stay far away from the monotonous palettes of a regular hotel, blending in a plethora of colours and patterns into each room. The 650 rooms on offer provide ample space for any budget, with single, standard, deluxe, premium corner, junior suites, and penthouses being available to visitors.

One of the main standouts of Hotel nHow Amsterdam RAI is its affection for food. Planting its culinary flag above the skyline, nHow Amsterdam RAI’s ‘The View’ restaurant is located on the 17th floor and immerses guests into a textured floral paradise, with three terraces providing some open air dining opportunities. Offering up a stellar breakfast, the range includes made to order dishes as well as an extensive American and continental-style spread, boasting classic cold cuts, flaky pastries, fresh juices, cheeses, fruits, yoghurt, breads, and more.

If you want to get closer to the ground floor, the ‘Moana Bar’ is neatly tucked into the first floor of nHow Amsterdam RAI, offering up a 360 degree drinking spot that transitions from laidback in the afternoons to lively at night, with a curated cocktail menu joining small plates and mood-driven music to form a fine relaxation spot for you and your friends. Adding to the ambience, the coveted ‘Sonora’ bar lived up to its reputation, with the 24th floor cocktail bar putting forward some surprisingly edgy mixology. Think flavours of Peru, whiskey and purple corn pineapple, Bacardi rum and apricot. It’s actually a spot you can say you went to on your travels, and it just so happens to be where you’re staying. Lastly, an ode to the Amazon rainforest arrives in the form of ‘Selva,’ a Latin American restaurant space designed by Barcelona-based interior architecture and design studio, El Equipo Creativo.

Final Thoughts

Hotel nHow Amsterdam RAI is a landing spot for the frequent traveller, acting as a reliable base that prioritises comfort, cleanliness, and a unique approach to design. Within touch of all your saved itinerary hotspots, the space feels like what every city hotel should feel like: home.
