“…A timeless blend of cultures and traditions, world cities and far remote tropical places, an imaginary world, a place of magic and wonder ….“
Miko Spinelli
Italian born fashion and music artist Miko Spinelli is best known for his ornate, cushion-soft masterpieces, which have appropriately been tagged as ‘wearable works of art’. Manufactured in Florence, the garments take inspiration from world travels and the Baroque-esque fabric designs hint at Spinelli’s rich cultural heritage. Like Versace, Spinelli’s confident designs resound on an operatic scale.
Through his use of beautifully decorative fabrics and contemporary fit, Spinelli successfully transforms iconic pieces like the classic bomber/ varsity jacket into one of a kind objets d’art.
MIKO SPINELLI-LUXE is the designer’s highly anticipated second collection. Following on from the first, Spinelli continues to explore the juxtaposition of global traditions and styles, this time coming up with playful reconfigurations of the classic leather biker jacket.
Given this season’s favour of all things print, Spinelli’s maximalist approach to design is set to be one of 2013’s big hits. However, it’s also clear to PAUSE that these substantial pieces of style are capable of transcending passing trends to become enduring icons.
