Compton's Kendrick Lamar creates the Cortez of the minute, The 'Kenny 1'
Humble he might be, but Kendrick Lamar currently holds the Midas touch. His critically acclaimed DAMN. album released last year launched him into new heights of fame, shortly followed by a sold-out worldwide tour coming to Europe in the coming weeks. But what has become most striking about the Compton raised rapper’s career of late is his refuelled sense of fashion, taking pieces from the likes of Prada and Gucci and incorporating them with streetwear favourites.
Rocking classic colour-ways of the Nike Cortez whilst performing on the DAMN tour, the classic silhouette has once again entered the realm of popularity with younger demographics. Kendrick has finally teamed up with Nike to tinker with the trainer, adding personality to the blank canvas shoe to create the ‘Kenny 1’. Adorning the white leather sneaker with fine red stitching to spell out the album’s title and to draw the iconic nike tick, gives the trainer a subtle ultra-modern update. Complimenting the red and white of the sneaker, splashes of black decorate the tongue and sole to give the shoe more character. The Kenny 1 is expected to release on January 26.
