Inspired by Algeria.
Since reviving its 992 model, New Balance has created a considerable hype around the shoe through its collaboration with the likes of JJJJound and Packer Sneakers. Continuing to push the silhouette, creative agency Studio FY7 is the latest collaborator to add its spin to the sneaker.
This shoe serves as a homage to Algeria, the native country of the agency’s creative head and founder, Younes Bendjima. Writing on Instagram the agency stated that “The shoe is a reminder that no matter where you walk in the world, you can, and should, be proud to carry your history and heritage wherever you go.”
Featuring a beige suede on the upper, the shoe’s colourway represents the dunes of Southern Algeria whilst the black circles that are cut into the suede symbolise the ancient architecture of the Algerian city Ghardaïa. Grey New Balance branding can be found on the side of the shoe which sits on a split white and black midsole.
Releasing on October 22nd, through the Studio FY7 website, take a first look at the sneaker below.
