A Salomon Saviour?
Having initially released back in October 2022, MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon dropped just in time for both brands, capitalising on the Gorp-core hiking wave that the latter were riding for the majority of last year. However, Salomon’s XT-4 have seen a dip in form and relevance, with many believing Salomon might be on their way out.
Contradicting this rhetoric to the fullest extent, MM6 Maison Margiela have brought a wave of attention back to Salomon and its iconic silhouette with a refreshing redesign, taking the hiking silhouette and giving it a more relaxed mule shape. Cutting the back heels off these two new XT-4 iterations, MM6 Maison Margiela debuts this latest footwear effort just in time for the upcoming summer time, teasing two beige/ black and green/white/purple gradient-style colourways. Keeping in line with Salomon’s hiking history, several tactical features like the one-pull Quicklace system, a full-length Agile Chassis™ Skeleton, carbon-style mesh upper coatings, in addition to dual-density midsoles make the cut. In typical MM6 Maison Margiela fashion, a range of signature branded details take the floor, including Margiela number lettering on the toe box as well as Salomon’s “XT-4 Mule” lettering on the tongue.
No release date has been set for this release as of yet, but stay tuned to PAUSE for more release information as it arrives.
