Heritage lifestyle brand G.H. Bass and joined forces with British designer Nicholas Daley to reimagine the humble loafer, giving the simple silhouette with a much needed makeover.
Debuting in two ‘Navy’ with silver hardware ‘Chocolate’ with antique brass hardware colourways, the G.H. Bass x Nicholas Daley collaboration reinterprets the classic Weejuns Larson silhouette and inserts an action-ready Super Lug sole, which is the former’s new lightweight EVA sole. Keeping the craft in line with heritage, these pairs are hand-crafted by artisans in El Salvador using a classic tubular moccasin technique that George Henry Bass established in 1876, with this particular design utilising a mixture of leathers such as suede, croc and a burnished leather for a striking two-tone effect, rounding out the materials with a mixture of brushed and polished finishes. Alternate design features include eye-catching contrast thread, a cross blanket stitched toe cap, as well as golden co-branding on the insole. Staying true to his Jamaican and Scottish roots, Nicholas Daley infuses reggae and jazz elements into many of his collections – as seen through the campaign imagery – with this particular collaboration looking to celebrate both brands’ shared commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and community.
