Beating out esteemed competition...
Steven Stokey-Daley’s S.S. Daley has been unveiled as this year’s LVMH Prize winner, beating out several up-and-coming designers.
The British designer has become known for his flexible design touch, with many of his collections often fluctuating between simple and more daring approaches. The London-based brand was chosen ahead of ERL’s Eli Russell Linnetz and WINNIE New York by Idris Balogun, with the decision being reached by a host of high-profile fashion designers, such as Kim Jones, Stella McCartney, Jonathan Anderson, Nigo, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and more. As a result of his win, Daley is set to receive a €300,000 EUR prize and personalised assistance from LVMH for a year, looking to help the brand expand globally. For the first time in its history, ERL’s Eli Russell Linnetz and WINNIE New York by Idris Balogun shared the Karl Lagerfeld Prize, with each designer also receiving funding and a year-long mentorship.
Taking to his Instagram account, S.S. Daley stated:
“I’m so thrilled to have had the opportunity to introduce my world to the incredible jury of permanent inspirations […] Thank you all so so much, none of it feels at all real. Thank you to everyone for their constant support, it really wouldn’t be possible without the incredible team around me.”
