Coperni Makes Fashion History with Spray-On Fabrican Dress at PFW

By October 3, 2022Fashion News

Worn by Bella Hadid for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection

It’s always exciting when innovation meets fashion and that’s exactly what happened at Coperni’s Spring/Summer 2023 show at Paris Fashion Week show. Co-founders Sébastian Meyers and Arnaud Vaillant appointed the help of Manel Torres and his Fabrican technology to create a truly monumental moment in fashion that almost mimics the iconic Spring 1999 show by Alexander McQueen where Shalom Harlow was covered in black spraypaint.

However, this time around, things got more technical. A naked Bella Hadid was presented to the illuminated stage and spray painted by two technicians. But what looked like spray paint turned out to be Torres’ Fabrican, a spray-on fabric made from fibres and polymers that becomes a non-woven material once it dries and comes in contact with air. The result was a skin-tight white dress that was completely wearable, with the shoulder straps being lowered to Hadid’s arms once dried and the dress flowing ever-so gracefully with the intentional leg slit and beautifully imperfect hems.

Check out the process and the dress in action below.
