Releasing on the 5th November.
As Moncler continue to celebrate its 70th anniversary, the French brand’s latest celebration comes in the form of the Maya 70 collaborations, a series of seven reinterpretations of their iconic Maya jacket by seven designers. This time around, Rick Owens has been enlisted to put his own touches on the outerwear piece.
The avant-garde designer takes an architectural approach to the down jacket with what he himself describes as ‘girded’ shoulders, an architecturally quilted shoulder detailing that was prevalent in his namesake label’s AW21 collection. “(The girded shoulders are) symbolically meant to support the weight of contemporary adversities,” says Owens. The jacket also features a shiny finish, a removable hood and a co-branded Moncler and Rick Owens logo on the left chest. The campaign is also modelled by his life partner and muse Michéle Lamy as he believes that she best represents the intimate foundation of his label in all of its stages, not to mention what Owens describes as her “unfiltered barbaric elegance” that has been an ongoing source of inspiration for him.
