As we near the end of the Alessandro Michele era at Gucci, we are presented with his final campaign for the Italian luxury house in the SS23 “Twinsburg” collection. Shot by Joanna Piotrowska and with art direction from Christopher Simmonds, the campaign sees twins model the campaign – like how it appeared on the runway – as the designer shows us how 70s influence is mixed in with his own quirky world to provide an offering that truly shows how he brought his DNA to the high fashion label.
Traditional silhouettes are given a Michele tweak, from loafers that have a heart-shaped toe to double-breasted blazers that are exaggeratedly cropped to flaunt the midriff of the slender models. Gizmo from the Gremlins also makes an appearance for the colour-blocked collegiate sweaters as well as the GG motif that appears on most jewellery pieces, putting a gaudy yet Gucci-esque touch on all of the looks.
