Breaking: Jil Sander Appoints Simone Bellotti as Creative Director

Concluding Speculation.

Jil Sander has chosen Simone Bellotti to serve as the brand’s next creative director. Bellotti was previously the creative director at Bally, and has spent time at Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Dolce & Gabbana.

“I am incredibly honored to join Jil Sander, a storied house that created a new aesthetic with its unique approach and strong identity, and that has always had such a significant influence on the design community. I am grateful to Renzo for the trust, and I am keen to contribute to the house’s full potential,” says Bellotti.

Recent media speculation around the fashion creative director turnstile surrounded Burberry creative director Daniel Lee, and former Jil Sander creative directors Luke and Lucie Meier. The assumption was that Lee would depart Burberry for Jil Sander, while the Meier’s would make a move to Loro Piana in order to turn their quiet luxury collections more mainstream. At this time, Bellotti is the only confirmed creative director move.
