Y/Project Spring/Summer 2016 collection
Featuring as the opening model to Glenn Martens Y/Project show, a woman stood as the epitomising figure to a collection that truly embraces a mix of genders. Glenn Martens is a Belgian designer, who is known for working with basics and reforming them into new silhouettes. He is often inspired by architecture, especially cathedrals from his hometown Bruges. In this collection we find many of the bases, such as bomber jackets, trench coats, t-shirts and sweaters. A couple of favourites were the bomber jacket with a double volume cross on the back, high waisted trousers with a loose fit and sleeves with a nice elbow length and carefully made details. His sweaters are made long, asymmetrical and with ties.
Of course we can’t miss Y/Project fetish for leather. This time leather is integrated into a jersey, making it a little bit lighter, perfect for summertime. Another popular material is denim, a predominantly streetwear material, however the designer presents it in as evening wear by using a close fit, high waist and mixing it with long coats and blazers.
