Kim Jones’ Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2016 celebrated Paris
There’s a saying we use in French when we want to cheer our sport teams, which is “Allez les Bleus !” – this can literally be translated as “Go, Blue team!”. Yes, blue is the main colour we use to support the country, the brand and the overall culture. Indeed, it’s no wonder that navy blue hues are omnipresent in Kim Jones’ Louis Vuitton Fall 2016 collection, as the designer paid a tribute to the city of Paris, he thoughtfully took on some of the strongest symbols from the long-established luxury house and its origins.
For the menswear Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, Louis Vuitton remained faithful to the DNA of their house: taking on the escape-inspired recurring theme, Kim Jones displayed many bérets, military outfits, wool coats and printed jackets, combined with tailored navy trousers and polished smart shoes. As an illustration, the voyage invitation was held between the hands of models, carrying monogramed trunks and suitcases, reminding us of the brand ever-lasting heritage.
Edgy with a grain of sexy, Kim Jones’ Louis Vuitton ready-to-wear Autumn/Winter fashion collection followed a musically enchanted Spring/Summer 2016 offering: seasons may ensue but Jones remains the same.
