Having been at the forefront of London Fashion Week Men’s for a number of years now, it came as no surprise to us when Tinie Tempah announced that he’d be showcasing his debut collection for new menswear label, What We Wear, during this season’s fashion week schedule.

Clean, versatile and, most importantly, wearable; Tinie’s first official foray into the world of men’s fashion is very much so a reflection of the modern millennials ideal wardrobe. Casual trousers, smart sweaters and slick neoprene bombers were among the standouts with a particular focus on silhouette and the way the garments hang loosely from the body – adding to the air of sartorial nonchalance.

Speaking to GQ, Tinie elaborated on his thought process behind the collection “The main thing that I wanted to offer was a range of clothes that you could pretty much wear for anything, very casual but very formal at the same time”. To say that Tinie is acutely aware of where his collection will fit into the exponentially growing menswear market is an understatement.

The muted colour range of black, white, grey and navy combined with the stripped-back aesthetic make for an incredibly hard working selection with most pieces being more than suited to wearing both day and night, transcending typical dress codes. This fusion of heightened practicality and elevated style make for an impressive debut offering, giving What We Wear a healthy kick in an upwards direction.

Admirably, the collection is also handmade in London, which is pretty unique considering the entry price point of £60. All-in-all, we’d say What We Wear is certainly one to watch henceforth on the fashion week schedule and PAUSE are certainly excited to see what’s next for the talented artist’s label.
