The Ampersand Hotel is quite literally a 1 minute walk from South Kensington Underground Station; which should indicate the calibre of clientele it brings – High!
Greeted by super friendly staff at the front desk you can soak in the contemporary and sophisticated atmosphere in the lobby. The desk can recommend good places to eat or drink at if you don’t know the area, and as per 5* hotels, offer added extras like a wake up call service and complimentary newspaper should you wish.
The hotel boasts a variety of luxury rooms, each decorated referencing one of 5 concepts: botany, music, geometry, ornithology and astronomy.
Room types:
- Singles & doubles – Intimate room size.
- Superior – Generous room size.
- Deluxe – Details might include a chaise longue at the end of the bed or a comfortable armchair.
- Deluxe studio – While a number of Deluxe Studios have TVs in the bathroom; those that don’t have grander, freestanding baths in the rooms.
- Suites – Each suite has a balcony among the eaves of the top of the building, where you can gaze at the London skyline.
The bathrooms are fully equipped with robes, slippers and toiletries by L’Occitane, so you can truly indulge in pampering yourself during your stay. PAUSE stayed in a Deluxe studio and made the most of the cloud like bed after taking a long soak in the bedroom bath tub; a rare time out from the busy Fashion lifestyle! Favourite touch? The heated floors in the bathroom!
In the morning, breakfast is available in the Apero restaurant; an exquisite way to start the day. With the option of buffet or a la carte, there is something for every palette. PAUSE recommends the Eggs Royale from the a la carte menu; full of flavour and just the right portion size. With walk-in customers, you don’t need to be a hotel guest to dine there so it is worth giving it a try if in the area. Side note: Apero serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Diners can also enjoy a tipple at the bar.
In addition to Apero, there is also The Drawing Room which serves Afternoon Tea. Now although PAUSE didn’t indulge on this trip, the range of beautiful looking cakes didn’t slip from our attention!
Hot on fitness? No excuse for skipping leg day as the hotel has it’s own gym. Pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was, so we could do our work out in peace! (Complimentary water and towels available)
Promotions:
The hotel welcomes guests to bring their dogs to stay and from October to December, they will offer the option to donate £1 to Dogs Trust with every booking made. Over the festive period, any guests who bring their dog with them will receive a chew toy for their dog to enjoy and take home with them.
