By April 8, 2020Fashion News

Fashion Continues to Step Up.

Following the recent announcement that Nike was working on the production of face masks in collaboration with the Oregon Health & Science University, the results of their efforts have recently been unveiled with full face shields and respirator lenses now in production by the sportswear giant.

Repurposing materials initially destined for apparel and trainers, the protective equipment is due to be distributed to healthcare workers around their global HQ’s region. Speaking on their collaborative efforts, Miko Enomoto, M.D., associate professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at OHSU’s School of Medicine commented;

“The full-face shields help protect healthcare workers’ faces and also help to prolong the length we can safely use a surgical or N95 mask. Nike’s generous response to the COVID-19 crisis helps to instil an added layer of confidence and support for healthcare workers, that we can safely carry out the jobs we were born to do.”

This follows the news of a slew of labels including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Versace, to name a few, who have redirected their production efforts to fight the global Cornavirus pandemic.
