The suede models are available now, the white leather colourway will see a surprise drop soon.
Ronnie Fieg and Asics are like bread and butter and their longstanding partnership is a clear indication as to why. This time around, the collaborative duo are back with a new model: the EX89. Originally dubbed the GEL-EXTREME, the designer brought it back from the archives and used his hometown basketball team, the New York Knicks, as inspiration to pay homage to his affinity for the sport and team.
The EX89 will come in three versions, two with a suede upper and one with a tumbled leather upper. The suede versions arrive in orange and cream colourways, the orange as a nod to one of the two main colours of the Knicks uniform. The cream iteration also hints at the basketball team colours, with a subtle blue touch that can be seen on the tongue of the sneaker. The white leather pair combines elements of both by sprinkling in orange and blue accents on the heel counter, sock liner and lace holes. All three shoes also sport a cream outsole for a vintage-like feel.
