Following on from last year’s success, Diesel have joined forces with the Tom of Finland foundation for Pride 2023 and debuted a fresh collaborative collection, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
Taking direct inspiration from Tom of Finland’s queer art vault, as well as utilising new designs, Diesel’s latest capsule looks to put gay men at the forefront and display them in ways where “unabashed freedom and joy” takes the floor, enlisting Stanley Stellar and Michael Mitchell to do so, with TOF’s signature photography styles dominating the range alongside drawn graphics. Put together by The Community, which is a multi-disciplinary art institute located in Paris, 17 pieces of printed garments are up for grabs, with a selection of essentials and signature Diesel denim being available to purchase.
Staying true to the unfazed nature of the collection’s ethos, the pieces themselves boast an eclectic range of erotic drawings and graphics, with pieces such as jockstraps, tank tops and underwear further underlining the collaboration’s affection for exotic styles and silhouettes. Getting into the standouts, a pair of satin silk shorts adorned with a black jock strap print leads the line, striking images of gay men in New York’s West Village – taken by Stanley Stellar – take to the front of a selection of t-shirts, denim, and button-up shirts, whilst Tom of Finland’s Day & Night portraits cover a selection of tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts, in addition to a cap and a jockstrap.
Opening alongside this extensive Pride 2023 collection, Diesel have partnered with The Community and The Tom of Finland Foundation to open The AllTogether Clubhouse, which is a group exhibition and daily event program in New York City’s West Village, open from June 21st to 25th.
