Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 have kept up their lightning-quick pace as we head further into 2023, with the first and second chapters of their FW23′ range having covered several technical and deconstructed bases already. Stepping forward with “Chapter 3”, Y-3 get back to basics.
Utilising their longstanding history with sportswear, Y-3’s latest drop off sees the brand take to adidas’ homeland in Berlin as the left-of-centre and disruptive aura of the city comes to life, being channelled through monochromatic colour schemes, razor-sharp silhouettes, and stark branding. Putting together a sleek set of pieces, Y-3’s FW23′ range features everything from tailored suiting, a signature leather jacket, and cropped hoodies to padded shirting and oversized Three Stripe track pants, making sure Y-3’s simple take on abstract shines through.
Getting into the standouts, the curated selection of pieces features a black leather “Y-3 Tokyo” varsity-style jacket – which no doubt takes centre stage – whilst additional highlights include redesigned classic adidas tracksuits, a padded hybrid jacket-and-skirt co-ord, a light purple nylon bomber jacket, as well as a white “Y-3” labelled tactical vest. Covering all the bases, Y-3 also bring forward a selection of footwear, with some signature silhouettes like the Y-3 Superstar, Gazelle, Centennial Hi, Centennial Lo, and Marathon TR receiving a range of distressed makeovers.
