Welcome to the Crew.
If you rank Sons of Anarchy up there as one of the best (and coolest) series that you’ve ever binged then this one might just be right up your street as Levi’s takes a deep dive into the inspirations of Denim Tears founder Tremaine Emory and his fascination with black biker culture for the pair’s latest collaborative chapter.
Comprised of ten expressive pieces that each embody the defiant mindset and commitment to individuality of the biker community that originated from crews like Oakland California’s East Bay Dragons (one of America’s first Black motorcycle clubs), the bold offering is an ode to the subculture’s most distinct style codes. From symbols, patches, fringes, and embroidery to the oddly beautiful wear and tears picked up from countless miles on the road, there’s emphasis placed on leather and denim fabrications while subtle references to cowboy and workwear aesthetics are unified by the collection’s overarching Afro opulence.
“I have had a fascination with Black bike culture for as long as I can remember. What seems like simple and functional attire at first glance is aesthetically informed by Native American, cowboy, rodeo evidence, workwear, military surplus, outlaw, and drifter influences.” Tremaine Emory
A fusion of influences brought together in the name of the Black biker community, the capsule’s hero pieces include a Leather Cotton Wreath Type II Jacket, Western Stitch 501® jeans and matching shirt, patched leather vest, and Longest Ride Tee.
Rounded out with a set of accessories, the Levi’s x Denim Tears collection is now available online.
