Enninful’s impact goes far beyond fashion editorial work. In this article, we delve into the who, what, and why of Edward Enninful’s career, from his beginnings in West London to becoming one of the most influential figures in global fashion, making lasting strides in diversity and inclusion.

Who is Edward Enninful?

A trailblazing figure and transformative force in the fashion industry, Edward Enninful has long been a symbol of diversity. Ghana-born but raised in West London, Enninful’s fashion journey kicked off when he was scouted to be a model at the tender age of 16. Through tenacity, knack and natural inclination, at 18 he would become one of the youngest-ever fashion editors after being appointed the fashion director of i-D magazine. This move would mark the beginning of a meteoric rise that would redefine his fashion career.

Drawing inspiration from his mother, a seamstress, Enninful took his influences, passion for craftsmanship and attention to detail to establish himself within fashion. Combining these influences with his deep connection to London’s vibrant youth and culture, the would-be trailblazer gained a reputation for pushing boundaries and breaking conventions. His early work reflected a dedication to spotlighting underrepresented voices and challenging the traditional norms of fashion aesthetics, and through this he subsequently worked his way through the ranks of editorial fashion.
