Accommodation
With 51 rooms, chic&basic dot Madrid is not light of space, but the accommodation itself feels far from crowded at any given point. Providing a plethora of options, a classic room, a deluxe double or twin room, and a superior double room with a terrace are all available to book, with the latter being the pièce de résistance. Natural light fills up the expansive space, including the walk-in shower, with other notable features including a 50” Smart TV with Chromecast, a desk, safe, mini-fridge, air conditioning, as well as free, high-speed Wi-Fi. Subtly embedded wardrobe space also provides ample storage for all of your goods, and double beds across the board make sure that this snug space doesn’t feel too cramped, especially when it’s time to rest your head. Lastly, outdoor space is aplenty for the top-billing room, with vast city views setting the scene on an expansive balcony area, which includes various choices of seating as well as some vibrant decor. A tasteful deep orange, muted forest green, and neutral grey colour scheme gives your room some personality, whilst somehow embracing the natural colour palette of the sunny city. Most of the time, first impressions are your last impressions – and chic&basic dot Madrid knows that. No notes.
Food
Despite not serving lunch or dinner, chic&basic dot Madrid does more with less for breakfast, all while being more on the healthy side. A gluten-free start to the day arrives in the form of a three-course style breakfast courtesy of Naked&Sated, with everything from the average tea and coffee to fresh juices, main courses, and traditional sponge cakes being up for grabs. Some notable highlights include the green energy smoothie, which boasts a reinvigorating dose of banana, kale, mango, lemongrass, and milk, as well as the supremely tasty green almond pesto avocado and egg galette. We’re drooling just thinking about it. A relatively limited menu? Yes. But sometimes, too much is too much.
Location
Stay at chic&basic dot Madrid and you’ll find yourselves slap bang in the middle of Madrid, it’s as simple as that. Located just a leisurely three minute walk from Puerta del Sol – the capital’s most renowned square and meeting spot – the hotel is the ideal space to throw yourself into the action of one of Europe’s finest cities. Want to see Kilometre Zero? It’s right around the corner. The official Real Madrid store? Same. The Statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree? You know the drill. Being a stone’s throw away from staple high-street stores as well as the low-key local spots, you really can’t get more bang for your buck than a stay at chic&basic dot Madrid.
