Burberry lightens its signature for summer.
Burberry is reworking its signature outerwear for warmer weather, introducing a tropical gabardine update across its trench coats, car coats and jackets.
The new-season offering focuses on lighter construction and streamlined silhouettes, adapting some of the house’s most recognisable styles, including the Kensington and Fitzrovia trenches, alongside the Camden car coat. A muted palette of stone, pale pink and graphite keeps things rooted in Burberry’s classic codes, while subtle shifts in proportion bring a more contemporary feel.
At the centre of the collection is gabardine, the fabric invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879, here reimagined in a lighter, more breathable form suited to changing climates. Produced at the brand’s Yorkshire mill and finished with its signature check lining, the pieces stay close to the house’s heritage while adjusting to a more seasonally fluid wardrobe.
As luxury labels continue to rethink functionality in response to shifting weather and lifestyles, Burberry’s latest move signals a quieter evolution, one that keeps its icons intact while subtly rewriting how and when they’re worn.
