Since 1945 French label Carven have garnered acclaim through providing inspired and affordable ready-to-wear clothes. Having only been established in 2012, the menswear branch of the label is still in its infancy. Building on the strength of last year’s SS12 collection, Carven director Guillaume Henry returns with a Spring/Summer lookbook which exudes freshness and is consistent with many of the coming season’s major trends. Present throughout the line is the undeniable whiff of Haute Couture, honouring the legacy of the label’s origins.
Floral Print Shirts
This trend has been gently simmering for the past couple of seasons and is set to be a key feature for SS13. Styled above with matching tailored shorts, this shirt could also pack a punch worn with a suit or blazer. See Reggie Yates at last year’s inaugural LC:M.
Head to Toe Pattern
As with the head to toe floral look, this may require some chutzpah to pull off and the impeccably tailored canvas jacket might just be enough.
Indigo
A key colour for SS13. Pause pick of Carven’s offerings are this trench and cropped quilted jacket.
Tailored Shorts
No longer the preserve of the hipster. Prepare for the rise of the semi-formal shorter short.
Masculine and utilitarian.
