Last season the new collection from Alexander McQueen was presented in a Victorian coal store, making us wonder where it would take place this year.
In the dilapidated Welsh Chapel on Charing Cross Road, the Fall 2014 collection found its right place surrounded by peeling paint, stained glass and marble columns. On a folding chair under a dusty dome ceiling each guest seemed to be much fascinated by the show and so are we!
The collection itself was black and grey, with flashes of gold. Kilts worn over trousers, sharp suits and loose chunky sweaters. The hand-knitted look is a favorite! The “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” music track and the models with black-feathers in their hair were a perfect match to the upcoming collection. It is dark, but looks good.

The Fall/winter 2014 collection from Burberry is called “A Painterly Journey” and filled with inspiration from artistic muses such as Ben Nicholson, Christopher Wood, Lucian Freud, and Duncan Grant.
What stood out the most for us from this show are the silk scarves and trench coats printed with London maps and landmarks. The large travel totes in hand-painted leather and suede made each look complete and makes us remember how important accessories are!
The mesh T-shirts seemed to be a favorite among the models and the silk “artists’ shirts with leaves and flowers. The collection invites us to explore more silk, cashmere and bags in our outfits and we at PAUSE are happy to see more of it!
