Calvin Klein epitomises masculinity with it’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
After being inspired by artist Ed Ruscha’s “A Few Palm Trees”, Calvin Klein dedicates its Spring/Summer 2016 collection to palm tree and colourful wave prints by naming it “Graphic Heatwave.” In addition to this, the collection features many other clean, minimalistic and urbane looks through his muscular tailoring and military-imbued sportswear, for the man on the go.
The masculine look was epitomised throughout the collection with robust fabrics such as cotton twill adding stiffness to outerwear including topcoats and short, strong-shouldered jackets. Creative designer Zucchelli also applied the same materials along with jacquards, to denim, giving garments like denim jackets and jeans a frayed, but sculptural chic. Other garments presented in the show included cropped nylon bombers, strapping military parkas, boxy t-shirts and narrow chinos with a wavy loop attached to the waistband that complimented nicely with the lacquered waves of colour printed on the sleeveless t-shirts, which were layered on top of gauzy sweatshirts.
