First showcased March 2020, during the AW20 show themed ‘Neo Future’, Nike and Japanese streetwear giants, Comme des Garçons have returned once again to take on the Air Force 1 Mid.
“Rei Kawakubo embraced the idea that it is not possible to make something completely new, therefore choosing to look within the world of Comme des Garçons for inspiration. In choosing the Air Force 1 Mid, Kawakubo similarly selected a beloved Nike classic that is revered for the unique place it holds in the sneaker cannon: the pinnacle expression of sport and street.” explains a statement from Dover Street Market.
Offered in black and white, the two customized styles feature panelled cut-outs with raw edges on the shoe’s leather exterior.
Keeping to the silhouettes iconic design, the Air Force 1 Mid keeps its mid-cut collar with the classic strap closure, which has been stamped with Comme des Garçons lettering.
The AF1 Mid launches exclusively at all Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Markets globally and DSM E-SHOPs today, followed shortly thereafter by all of Comme des Garçons’ best wholesale clients.
