PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

Supreme x Nike Air Bakin'

Continuing down this trending path of reintroducing mostly-forgotten 90s basketball sneakers, Supreme have tapped Nike for two iterations of the Air Bakin’ silhouette. Having most recently joined forces with fellow streetwear titians Stüssy for two versions of the similarly-shaped – and forgotten about – Air Penny 2, Nike recruit frequent collaborators Supreme for the Air Bakin’, with this particular pair boasting a triple white colour scheme as well as striking yellow laces, whilst signature Nike emblems subtly adorn the collar and midfoot of the high-top sneaker. A summer sleeper?

Nike Air Max 1 Safari

Getting wild for this no.2 slot is Nike, who have stepped forward with a relatively tame colourway for this Air Max 1 Safari. Once again bringing in a monochromatic colour palette – much like the previously mentioned Air Bakin’ – this low-riding pair maintains the classic Air Max 1 layering structure whilst adorning these areas and the central Nike emblem with a grey animal print. Other standout elements include the typical Nike Air sole, a pebbled leather for the upper, as well as light blue hits on the top double eyelet and outsole.

Salomon XT-6

Coming through in an earthy ‘Delicioso/Chocolate Fondant/Peach Beige’ colourway, this Salomon XT-6 puts forward everything the average ‘Gorpcore’ enthusiast needs and more. Boasting a rich dark brown colour across the majority of the abrasion-resistant TPU material upper, the hike-ready everyday pair also include signature Salomon branding and design features across the heel and midfoot, whilst comfort-centric features like the Agile Chassis System, EndoFit inside sleeve, as well as the Mud Contagrip make this pair an easy cop for any self-respecting streetwear lover.

New Balance 2002R 'Protection Pack'

Old reliable strikes again. New Balance’s 2002R ‘Protection Pack’ make the cut once more as the TikTok-ready silhouette returns in a simple black colourway.  Continuing to don its distressed look, this black ‘Protection Pack’ sneaker boasts a broken black mixed mesh and suede upper with hits of grey lining the heel, midsole, and New Balance insignia. If you’ve been around the sneaker block, you know these are a new-school grail.

adidas Orketro 2.0

Last but not least, adidas step out with an early contender for shoe of the month as they debut a vibrant iteration of the increasingly-popular Orketro 2.0 silhouette. Being another sneaker synonymous with TikTok sneaker heads, this retro silhouette takes a sporty aesthetic and runs with it, donning a shiny bright blue material across the upper alongside a similarly striking set of silver Three Stripes on the toe area. A dark burgundy breaks up the shoe nicely, with vibrant neon green lining the outsole and tongue to provide a sneaker that demands a second glance from passersby.
