A Match Made in Heaven.
Gentle Monster are high fashion’s “old reliable” when it comes to eyewear collaborations, having hit up the Korean outfit on several occasions in the past. Doing so yet again, luxe mainstays Mugler are up to bat.
Teaming up for their debut collaboration, Mugler and Gentle Monster looks to find some common ground through an even split, integrating Mugler’s one-of-one design vision, heritage, and iconic spiral details with Gentle Monster’s keen eye on the world around them and their wider brand aesthetic. In turn, two striking eyewear silhouettes are put up for grabs here, with this curated collection consisting of the Spiral 01 and Spiral 02. The former underlines an intense energy from its sleek, geometric design and is inspired by a modern exploration of Mugler’s ‘Fourmis’ eyewear that was initially introduced to the world as part of the House’s 1997 “Les Insectes” haute couture collection. Being launched alongside the Spiral 02, a sort of “yin and yang” is put forward here as the 02 edition features a more contemporary edge, boasting embossed line details and a chrome logo on the temples. Shot by Theo Liu, the campaign pays tribute to iconic visual innovators such as Helmut Newton and Manfred Thierry Mugler.
The Mugler x Gentle Monster collection will release globally on July 18th via both brands’ respective websites.
