Come for the coffee, stay for the interiors
London isn’t exactly short of coffee shops, but Cup of Joy’s new Marylebone opening might just be one of its chicest. Originally founded in Istanbul’s Bebek neighbourhood, Cup of Joy brings its Istanbul roots to London with a new space designed by EBBA Architects.
Designed by Benni Allan of EBBA Architects, the interiors take their cues from Istanbul’s historic stone walls, courtyards and coffee culture. Clay-rendered walls are paired with hand-selected Portland stone, bespoke oak furniture, dark timber flooring and soft terracotta tones. A large oak bar zig-zags across the ground floor, alongside custom communal tables, stools and built-in seating. Above, a timber and opaque glass ceiling invites in soft natural light, while downstairs, curved forms, low seating and continuous oak panelling create a more intimate setting.
And of course, there’s coffee too. Cup of Joy brings its Istanbul roots to the menu with speciality coffee, house-made food and bakery, alongside a seasonal all-day menu. Take a closer look inside Cup of Joy’s Marylebone space below.
