When the Queen of England meets streetwear.
Have you ever imagined what Elizabethan meets streetwear looks like? No, me neither, but here we go! The MSGM Fall/Winter 2017 collection is a mash-up of tracksuits and Queen Elizabeth II horse riding influences. A strange combination, but the designer, Massimo Giorgetti, makes it work.
Giorgetti plays on aristocracy fashion meeting athletics; two very separate moods coming together for the runway. He takes aspects of one world and inserts them into the designs of the other, for example, quilted tracksuits and silk patterns are put into bomber and shearling jackets; fine pinstripes are formed into sports style slouch shorts and tracksuits made in neoprene.
Giorgetti describes the collection as “An off-duty royal situation”.
The collection keeps it calm with a colour palette of beiges and browns, with the occasion splash of bright, contrasting yellows and oranges. ‘MSGM’ is written boldly across jumpers along with Diadora branding. It has been announced that the two Italian brands will be collaborating further and opening their collaboration to stores from September.
