BIRKENSTOCK are set to conclude their nine-month long championing of multi-disciplinary artists through its BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO: Walk With Me creative hub, unveiling renowned London born tattoo artists and creative Miles Langford as its final artist-in-residence.
Having become synonymous across a variety of groups and sub-cultures throughout the years, BIRKENSTOCK have spent this past nine months honing in on some of their most cherished creatives, bringing in artists from far and wide to have their say on some of BIRKENSTOCK’s heritage silhouettes. For this residency, Langford – the visionary behind ‘The London Social’ Tattoo Studio – has handpicked nine top tattoo artists to join forces with him in customising ten pairs of the iconic Boston clogs. All of these pairs will be on display at a special exhibition titled ‘The BIRKENSTOCK Social,’ which will be open from Saturday 5th to Sunday 6th October at the BIRKENSTOCK Studio in Shoreditch, London.
Arriving alongside Miles Langford’s residency at BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO’s creative space, the brand are primed to introduce an exclusive customisation bar that offers consumers a rare opportunity to take creative control of their personal pair of BIRKENSTOCK, with a range of design options and processes giving everybody the option to explore their creative side which ever way they want. Set to debut later in the year, the customisation station will allow visitors to customise their footwear with a range of innovative techniques, including foil-design heat pressing, colourful embroidery, and tattoo-like pyrography.
In a statement about the joint effort, Miles Langford said the following:
“The collaborative work with ‘The London Social’ and Birkenstock will not only showcase the versatility and artistic potential of tattoo art but also elevate the concept of personalized style. It has provided a fresh, innovative platform for tattoo artists to express their creativity beyond the canvas of human skin.”
