Inspired by the Designers Roots.
Willy Chavarria and Adidas Originals present their highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2025 collaboration. The collection, which sees its first drop on May 8th, pays homage to Chicano culture, infused with the designer’s signature oversized silhouettes and bold aesthetic, all while celebrating Adidas’s deep, often untold, connection to this community. The campaign is shot in Los Angeles by photographer Carlos Jaramillo and features Candace Parker, Skyy Clark, and Alejandro Speitzer.
The collection’s first drop on May 8th will feature a range of ready-to-wear apparel and footwear characterised by Chavarria’s dramatic proportions and Mexican symbolism. Black athletic sets are punctuated with Adidas’s three stripes and trefoil logo in Chavarria’s signature red hue, often accompanied by delicate rose embroideries seen throughout his collections.
Headlining the footwear offerings are reimagined versions of the classic 1978 Adidas Jabbar basketball shoe, originally designed for the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Chavarria Jabbar Low stays relatively true to the original form, featuring contrasting red stripes and a cream sole, along with a distinctive fold-over tongue adorned with a Chavarria woven label. The Chavarria Jabbar Dress, on the other hand, elevates the silhouette with a sleek leather construction, a pointed toe, gold branding, and leather laces, a smarter take on the iconic sneaker.
