Fashion Fans Are Totally Here for the Return of Whimsical Footwear
Christian Louboutin’s FW26 womenswear collection has given the internet plenty to talk about, with two standout heel designs quickly earning unofficial nicknames online. The Juanita Lace Up has been dubbed the “Banana Heel”, while the Einsnail On The Feet Mule and Pump are now collectively known as the “Lettuce Heels”, both for obvious reasons.
Part of a wider collection inspired by Christian Louboutin’s garden, the designs are the latest showcase of the house’s playful approach to craftsmanship and form. Online audiences have been quick to compare the heels to everything from fruit and vegetables to AI-generated fashion concepts, with Fashion TikTok and Instagram flooding with reactions.
The viral response highlights a growing appetite for statement footwear that favours expression over understatement. In a luxury landscape often dominated by minimalist accessories and quiet luxury, Louboutin’s latest creations feel like a refreshing change of pace.
Love them or hate them, the Banana and Lettuce Heels have succeeded in getting people talking. The question is, is fashion falling back in love with shoes that start conversations?
