Inside Gustaf Westman’s Kaleidoscopic Corner Shop at Selfridges

It only takes one look at Gustaf Westman’s colourful world to feel a little happier. His playful, sculptural designs deliver an instant hit of dopamine and that’s entirely the point.

For his latest pop-up at Selfridges, the Swedish designer has reimagined quintessentially British homewares through his unmistakable lens, creating whimsical pieces including a tea strainer and a fish-and-chips holder. Rather than presenting them on conventional retail displays, Westman has transformed the space into a series of IKEA-inspired rooms, inviting visitors to step inside his vibrant vision of everyday living.

The installation marks a new chapter for the designer, whose signature bulbous forms and joyful colour palette have become instantly recognisable. While previous projects saw his furniture and objects placed within real homes, this is the first time Westman has created fully realised domestic settings designed specifically to showcase his work.

The result is an immersive environment that blurs the lines between retail, exhibition and home, encouraging visitors to experience his playful take on contemporary design firsthand.
