After three years.
When we thought the fashion industry’s game of musical chairs was finally over, another creative director exit proves otherwise. Seán McGirr is stepping down from Alexander McQueen after three years at the helm, marking another shake-up for one of British fashion’s most recognisable houses.
The Dublin-born designer joined the brand in 2023, taking over from Sarah Burton after her 26-year chapter at McQueen, where he reworked the label’s signature tailoring and darker codes with a younger audience in mind, bringing subcultural references into the mix.
His final collection, unveiled in September, brought McQueen back to the London Fashion Week schedule after 25 years of showing in Paris, and honestly, we couldn’t have known that this would be his last collection for the brand. As McGirr exits, the question now is who will take his place. For now, a successor has yet to be announced.
