Luxury Black-Owned Store ‘Maison Léon’ Launches The Lenny Boot

"This isn't just about shoes." - Marquise Williams

Coinciding with Juneteenth and the limited Black ownership of luxury brands, PAUSE draws attention to a proudly Black-owned footwear label, Maison Léon. Since 2021, founder Marquise Williams has set out on a mission fuelled by a love for design. As a Black entrepreneur in a narrow and not as diverse fashion sector, he created opportunities on his own terms by building his luxury label from the ground up. Marquise doesn’t just design boots. He invites others to connect to his world through Maison Léon – a brand that champions individuality and self-expression, without compromising on craftsmanship.

Marquise explains that “All I want is for Maison Léon to have a happy spirit and make people feel good. Wearing clothes can evoke feelings of confidence, self-expression, and comfort. The right piece can help reflect personal style, and even provide positive memories or emotions.”

At the centre of Maison Léon’s latest drop is the Lenny Boot. The name pays homage to Lenny Kravitz and is specifically drawn from a video of the iconic artist working out in the gym dressed in black leather pants and boots. Serving as an unlikely yet unique stylistic choice, the inspiration taps in on Maison Léon’s appreciation for individuality and diversity. Lenny’s confidence is exactly what the brand wishes to give to its customers through the Lenny Boot collection.

Featuring a limited 12 pairs per colourway, two hues are crafted with 100% pebble calfskin whilst the other three are made entirely of croc-embossed cowhide leather. Exclusively handcrafted by skilled artisans, each boot has a pointed toe shape, lambskin lining, and stacked leather heel with a side zip fastening. Each boot carries its own material story and personal significance to Marquise himself. During spring seasons, he would go on hiking trips and be captivated by nature’s hues and so the Spring Moss (Green) colourway was made. His favourite shade is a mauve which he translated and called the Dusty Rose (Pink). For the croc-embossed versions, Marquise referenced his Virginnia heritage of the state’s bird being a Cardinal Red along with the Midnight Eclipse (Blue). A Cognac (Brown) makes for the fifth shade.

The Lenny Boot limited collection goes live on the 19th of June and is available to shop at shopmaisonleon.com.
