Famed film director and all round New York Yankees fan, Spike Lee, has teamed up with New Era to launch the 1996 collection as part of the ongoing New Era Heritage Series, bring us back to the good old 90s sports era.
It all began with a simple phone call from Lee asking New Era’s CEO Chris Koch to make him a red Yankees cap and if you’re a well-known director, what you ask, you’ll most probably get it. Thus the first non-navy Yankees cap was born becoming a fashion phenomenon and a demand grew marking it a whole new era for the brand.
Now the caps have been reintroduced in wool and leather in both navy and red, each with the signature 1996 World Series side patch, New Era flag logo and MLB silhouetted batter logo to the rear to complete the look. To make the collection even more special, each cap will come in a limited edition red case to celebrate the original 1996 model. This is truly a cap that embodies authentic sports heritage, perfect for the sports fan.
The wool cap will cost £35 while the leather ones retails at £60.
The collection is now available at size? as well as across Europe and will be launching globally on 27th July.
