It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection […] Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book.
In a statement delivered by LVMH, designer Raf Simons announced his departure from French fashion house Dior. The 47-year old designer stepped down from his position after his appointment as the artistic director of the womenswear collections in April 2012, greeting his parent company and the team that surrounded him throughout his career within the fashion house. The news come as a surprise amongst the fashion industry cognoscenti, marking the end of a modernist and meticulous era for Dior.
