A new brunch offering that will leave you feeling satisfied.
Location: 1a Amhurst Rd, London E8 1LL
Just a stone’s throw from Hackney Central Station (you quite literally have to walk past as you exit the station), Oslo is a great spot for eating and nights out. A winning combination. All exposed brick and high ceilings, the restaurant space has a modern industrial feel to it, a nod to it’s East London location’s heritage. Having updated their menu with a weekend brunch offering a couple of weeks ago, PAUSE went to check out the selection on a chilly Saturday morning.
Brunch is served from 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday, perfect if getting yourself out of bed is a bit difficult over the weekend, and prices are very reasonable ranging from £6-£9. There are nine options to choose from, with a big emphasis on the humble waffle; which can be dressed up in two sweet or two savoury options. The portion sizes are ample, with the “Vege Cure” Waffle option boasting two eggs any style, avocado, halloumi, grilled peppers, portobello mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and homemade chilli beans. A definitely recommendation, and don’t worry there are meat options available with chorizo involved. Though not as large on the plate, the Florentine option with its rich hollandaise sauce will definitely leave you feeling comfortably full and is available with English muffins or on buttered sourdough toast.
The coffee is strong, prosecco is on hand if you fancy making your brunch boozy or a moderate list of cocktails if bubbles aren’t really your bag. The staff are very accommodating and happy to make any alterations to your selection should you so choose. And they’re dog-friendly too.
A great space for larger groups or breakfast for two, service picks up around 1pm so PAUSE recommends heading down before in order to guarantee a table or booking in advance. All in all, a great offering for these first-time brunchers, and definitely one to check out if you’re in the Hackney area!
