An exhibition co-curated by Lou Stoppard and Adam Murray.
This unique show brings together the collective visions of the North, unpicking the tropes and the themes used frequently in design and media and also takes into account the rich cultural history of the region.
The exhibition will feature some of fashion’s most notorious image-makers. For example, early work from James Hawkesworth and Alasdair McLellan, while historic prints from Glen Luchford and Nick Knight will also be featured.
Fashion garments from the one and only Raf Simons will be on display, a parka jacket from the renowned AW 2003 Control Collection, which featured graphics from Peter Saville’s archive and made headlines this year for its current value of $20,000. New work by rising talents such as Christopher Shannon and John Skelton will be featured. Iconic archive Adidas shoes will be on show, a staple Northern style.
Collaborative work from Hacienda designer Ben Kelly and American designer Virgil Abloh will also be on display.
The exhibition opens Friday 6th January 2017 until Saturday 19th March 2017 at the Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool.
