A-COLD-WALL* 2nd LFWM debut.
If there is any doubt about the ability of fashion to make an important commentary on society, A-COLD-WALL* disproves it. The SS18 collection references the class divisions in society, juxtaposing impoverished, worn clothing against a backdrop of office noticeboards, commonly associated with the middle classes. The showcase of the NEWGEN recipient highlights the stark contrast between working conditions of the British people.
Models navigated around the noticeboards in a linear and controlled manner, in an atypical performance of the catwalk. The looks had a makeshift quality to them, giving the impression of wearing what you can afford and making do with what is available: rubber panels stitched to Levi jeans, tarpaulin glued to the jack of a jacket and PVC veils attached to hats. Some accessories included shopping baskets filled with paper, drawstring backpacks similar to the classic Nike schoolbags and geometric frames.
