Tourne de Transmission Autumn/Winter 2018 hold the ideology of discovery. Creative director Graeme Gaughan looks to focus on ‘new cultures and customs in order to learn how they interact with clothing.’ Whilst teaching his audience through his collections, the designer too wants to discover more about the world and the different customs that fuel it. It’s a perfect relationship between designer, collection and the outside world. This collection was inspired by Leah Gordon’s book ‘Kanaval’ which documents the rituals in south Haiti. Theatrical elements are often added to outfits as reminders to the authorities about their shortcomings through the abuse of power. Unorthodox fits highlight this for men’s suiting in the collection, whilst fabrics and various shapes illuminate the juxtaposition of femininity for women.
